Hi! I´m Henrik, 18 years old from Germany. I´m also planning on traveling in May/June in southern Europe.Originally I thought about Croatia, Italy and southern france, but so far I´m not sure where I wanna go exactly and the balkans also sound very exciting. So maybe we can travel a part of our journeys together. I think we´ll figure something out :)
Unfortunately I don´t have Instagram, but if you´re interested, you can add me on Snapchat (henrik_217).
Hi Hannah,
The Balkans is a great place to visit. Please keep in mind though that at the moment international train connections require careful planning as some services have been suspended due to construction and renovation projects.
Currently, you can travel via these international train connections with the Interrail Pass:
Austria or Italy
Slovenia
Croatia or Hungary
Hungary
Croatia
Hungary
Serbia
Montenegro
Bosnia Herzegovina → Croatia (Summer only)
Austria
Hungary
Romania
Bulgaria
Türkiye
Trains in Kosovo and Albania do not work with the Interrail Pass.
Greece and North Macedonia currently have no international train connections with the Interrail Pass.
Greece
Italy via ferry is possible.
Croatia
Italy via ferry is possible.
Once you are in Hungary or Slovenia you have more train connections with the rest of Europe. You can also always consult the most up to date train availability per country on the DiscoverEU app by going to the section More>Travel guides>Rail Network Guides.
We hope this helps, please contact us know if you need any clarification on this or have other questions.
